The Death of the Clinton Legacy - Vol. 4 Issue 5

Hillary Clinton, with the help of her husband, the “Great Enabler,” has now come close to totally destroying her political future and Bill Clinton’s political legacy. Their long story, already having reached mythic pathos, is moving toward hysterical bathos. While the Clintons teeter on the edge historical infamy, they seem utterly unaware that their now malignant campaign may have dealt a fatal blow to the fortunes of the all-but-certain Democratic nominee, Barack Obama. Yet the collective narcissism and incoherent insistence of her campaign, that she is still, “in it to win it,” leaves even her supporters wondering what the hell she and Bill think they’re doing. What is apparent to the rest of us (whether dedicated, loyal and motivated members of the Democratic Party or, the now surprised and deliriously happy Republicans and “Operation Chaos” veterans) is this: the Clintons don’t care if the Democratic candidate goes down in flames and their loyalty reaches no farther than their own self interest.

Although President Clinton was a good President, his legacy after leaving office is not something to be particularly proud of (economic security for one’s family is one thing, blatant greed is another). Let’s put it this way: He’s no Jimmy Carter. Still, we must keep in mind that everything is relative. Compared to the current occupant of the White House, Bill Clinton is a giant. As Colonel Pat Lang (ret.) recently put it, “the grotesque buffoonery of this man (Bush) offends the eye and the soul.” It is a shame that Bill and Hillary may have hobbled Obama’s campaign to prevent a third Bush term. Look on the bright side, perhaps when McCain is President we’ll witness the war crimes trials of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.  In the end, all we can do is work hard for victory over the economic royalists and their troglodyte helpers. Vote early and often.

Semper Fi,

Savant
