Rush Limbaugh's New Low: "Barack the Magic Negro" - Vol. 3 Issue 57
Loyalty to the Imus Show was the dirty little secret of many liberals. We listened and watched, always suspecting that it was wrong to do so. Yet we stayed at it until Imus finally went too far and paid the ultimate media price of being taken off the air. Our position was clear: we sniggered uncomfortably until Imus imploded and the racist nature of his show was undeniable, even to libertarian leaning liberals.
So why is Rush Limbaugh still on the air after playing a parody of Peter, Paul & Mary’s “Puff the Magic Dragon,” featuring Paul Shanklin impersonating Al Sharpton? For those of you who think Limbaugh’s race baiting was not the equivalent of Imus’s “nappy-headed hoes,” see, Alternet.org. Now THAT is offensive! Yet there has been no movement to fire Limbaugh and take him off the public airwaves. The question is, why not? And here is the answer: Rush has clothed his blatant racism with a patina of intellectual respectability. For a great example, see the in depth analysis at Media Matters for America, MediaMatters.org. Crooks and Liars also has sharp commentary on Limbaugh-the-Fatuous’s insults to black Americans. See, Crooks and Liars.
Someday Limbaugh will humiliate himself be booted from the national radio broadcasting. Until that day, all we can do is “out” his insulting and stupid behavior and hope that some copyright owner somewhere will deny him a license to use legitimate works for vicious insults against African Americans, Hispanics and women.
Hoping Rush keeps ingesting saturated fat, I remain
