The Revisionist's Revisionist Justifies his Medal of Freedom! - Vol. 3 Issue 48
In less than two weeks, former CIA Director, George Tenet will deliver the next big blow to the Bush administration. Prior to the April 30th publication date, Tenet will appear on “60 Minutes” and say very unflattering things about several of the architects of the fiasco in Iraq.
According to Al Kamen of the Washington Post,
“Tenet is not going to get too many Christmas cards from Vice President Cheney’s office after they read “At the Center of the Storm.” Folks from down the river at the Pentagon, including former deputy secretary of defense Paul Wolfowitz and former defense undersecretary Douglas Feith, might also get some heartburn. Former secretary of state Colin Powell comes out fine. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who was President Bush’s key adviser in engineering the Iraq invasion, doesn’t come out so fine. Not fine at all.” See, Washington Post.
Tenet’s presentation of this rogue’s gallery of the perpetrators of the Iraq War is nauseating familiar. Why is it that Tenet now feels ready to pubilically trash his former colleagues? I have a theory. He is trying to exorcise his guilt over the WAY his intelligence was used. Pure speculation? Yes. But the bitterness over being used and then discarded by a ruthless White House is something no patriot ever forgets. Tenet may not have deserved the Medal of Freedom. That issue is debatable, George Tenet’s patriotism is not. I suspect that his love of country has won out over his desire to be appreciated by his former colleagues. Sometimes vindication comes in strange ways and revenge is always served cold.
